With just a few months to go before the conclusion of the European project TUPLES (Trustworthy Planning and Scheduling with Learning and Explanation), we’re proud to be an active part of an initiative that has made a significant contribution to the development of Trustworthy AI.
From the very beginning, Optit has played a strategic role within the consortium, working closely with high-profile academic partners. In particular, we have led and contributed to two of the project’s four use cases: optimized management of urban waste collection and energy systems optimization. Both sectors are crucial for the ecological transition and sustainability, and they have allowed us to bring AI and planning research into real-world contexts—highly complex and with strong impact.
Optit also took on the responsibility for the project’s communication and dissemination activities—a task we embraced with enthusiasm and with full awareness of the cultural and social value that innovation must carry.
More recently, we have played a central role in the Beluga Competition launched by AIRBUS within the TUPLES framework. Optit developed the core platform that managed the automated deployment and execution of the models submitted by participants.
With over 61 scientific publications already achieved (and many more on the way), TUPLES has exceeded initial expectations. Yet, the months ahead will remain rich with key activities: it will be time to explore results, consolidate impacts, and pave the way for new applications of AI in planning and scheduling.
Beyond the technical achievements, what has inspired us most is the human dimension of this experience. For months, professionals from different countries and disciplines have worked side by side—sharing ideas, solving problems, building solutions. Together, we have built a true community.
In a world that often emphasizes divisions, TUPLES stands as a reminder of what we can accomplish when we unite around a common goal.
