Initially planned to include one of the key annual events for the Italian district heating community, to be held in Bologna (Italy) under the auspices of AIRU, current circumstances are forcing the UpgradeDH partners to gather for the periodic progress meeting from remote.
During the virtual meeting, the partners will share their progress in the different work packages and present the worked performed on the different demo cases. Two years into the project, a wide range of upgrading solutions have been explored, analysing how they will impact the future operations and performance of operations across the whole value chain (generation, distribution and consumption).
The meeting, that will take place on May 12, presents the chance to plan the next project’s activities, that will focus on the creation of sustainable business models and national action plans for the replicability of the upgrading measures across the EU, hopefully including a large public event to be held after summer. About the project
The overall objective of the UpgradeDH project is to improve the performance of district heating (DH) networks in Europe by supporting selected demonstration cases for upgrading, which can be replicated across the continent. The Upgrade DH project supports the upgrading and retrofitting process of DH systems in different climate regions of Europe, covering various countries: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, and The Netherlands. The gained knowledge and experiences will be further replicated to other European countries and DH systems (replication cases) in order to leverage the impact.
Core activities of the UpgradeDH project include the collection of the best upgrading measures and tools, the support of the upgrading process for selected DH networks, the organisation of capacity building measures about DH upgrading, financing and business models, as well as the development of national and regional action plans.
