Euroheat&Power 2023: Decarbonization Challenges and the Potential of District Heating

The main European event promoting district heating and sustainable thermal energy has just concluded in Turin: the Euroheat&Power congress (and the concurrent DHC+ assembly) brought together experts, professionals, and industry representatives from across Europe, providing a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange and collaboration. The key topics related to energy efficiency, decarbonization, and the transition to a low-emission future were addressed, as top-level experts shared their experiences and best practices, presenting innovative solutions to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Matteo Pozzi participated in the dual role of Vice Chair of DHC+ and CEO of Optit, based on his experience in optimizing district heating networks in the last decade.

The event was also the occasion to launch the DHC+’s digitalization report, now accessible from the EHP’s knowledge hub (https://www.euroheat.org/resource-report/digitalisation-in-dhc-systems.html): a successful collaborative effort involving various stakeholders who contributed with their expertise to create what we hope will be a source of inspiration to promote the adoption of digital solutions to improve the performance of district heating networks in the years to come.

The Euroheat&Power assembly consolidated the path towards sustainable thermal energy as a fundamental priority for Europe. It was heartening to witness the strong unity of purpose among individuals from diverse fields and countries, with over 450 attendees. A special mention to the organizers of EHP2023, who managed to integrate cutting-edge technology, networking occasions and friendly atmosphere in the beautiful setting of the city of Turin, leading the way to continuing collaboration to address the current decarbonization challenges, paving the way for a sustainable energy future.
